RESUMO

Benzimidazothiazole reacts with phenacyl bromide to give acylated quaternary salts. The structures of 9-phenacyl- and 9-(p-Methylphenacyl)-3-phenylbenzimidazol [2,1-b] thiazole Bromides (C23H17BrN2OS and C24H19BrN2OS) have been determined by X-ray methods. Both structures are monoclinic and rystalize in space group P21/c. Lattice constants for 9-phenacyl-3-phenylbenzimidazo [2,1-b] thiazole bromide are a = 15.888 (5), b = 6.559 (2), c = 27.287 (8) Å, β = 135.93 (5)°; for the p-methyl derivative a = 10.821 (3), b = 9.419 (3), c = 21.847 (5), β = 112.44 (5)°. The benzimidazothiazole ring system is planar and corresponding distances are similar in both compounds.
